Its spring in Western PA.. that's were I live.. and the daffodils are all blooming and the hycithians are smelling so spring like.. and the Pollen count just is soaring... so much for being able to breath.. anyway Its spring and very refreshing.. I actually have cleaned a few screens and washed a few windows.. but only when the sun is shining.. hate to clean when its cloudy.. kinda goofy huh... Trying real hard to keep on track here with all the charity quilts... I volunteered to test sew for an on-line friend and really thought it would be a little harder.. you see I have a problem with taking the time to actually read a pattern.. I usually eyeball the pattern and skim the directions and go from there.. well if you are test sewing, you have to read and critic the instructions..
well I have been sewing and cutting all afternoon and actually have the first block done.. I may even put in a picture... I don't have any real followers other than my dear good friend sister Katie... so why not....
I think its going to be a very distinctive quilt.. and right now I had intentions of given it to one of our next charities... A Women's Shelter in Boise Idaho... well we shall see...

Game plan changed!
Had my day planned.. I do that a lot when I have a day off from work.... Well yesturday I got 4 of the 5 finished quilt tops ready to be quilted... batting and backing ironed and ready to pin and quilt.... So today I had the mind set to quilt..... alrightyyyyy.. well the UPS man changed my mind... See I am the assembler for this months charity quilts and today UPS brought me a small package from a lady in Ohio.... she always sends the cutest blocks, always so neat, and great embroidery, seldom does the embroidery on white always chooses a nice color... so in opening the package I was thinking oh boy.. these are so beautiful... one set of applique fancy hearts on a pink flowered material, a set of straight line siloette birds on a light green... and then a set of yellow beach ducks.. with fillers to go with them..... well i was all excited to get busy with assembling.... especially because I have to send these quilts out to some one else to quilt... so I needed to get them at least started right? Well to the sewing room I go... digging in the different drawers of material.. matching colors and different designs.. oh what fun... I love it when you find the right piece of fabric... and you lay out all your colors and see what you think....okay have some material... now I have to decide on a filler or a quilt style... sometimes it's a tough decision.. sometimes you have to break away from the same old, then sometimes you just rely on what you know will work.... Its all such a fun challenge... so now I have to go put away all the fabric I pulled out that DIDNT work.... lol.. Off to the sewing room yet again....
one day later
well here I am again,,, still am wondering why I need to blog... but what the heck....I was off my paying job yesturday and spent the majority of the day in the sewing room.... got a really cute kitty quilt put together, and ready to ship out to one of this months volunteer quilters.. Let me tell you a little about a wonderful group I belong to..... "Quilters For Comfort" we are a group of internet quilters,, from all over the United States... we make quilts and give them away...... its not as hard as it sounds.... we have a very unique system and it works so well ... in the 5 years we have been organized, we have given over 850 quilts away...
Pretty damn good if you ask me..... We like to give to charity's that are not nationally known, and get no real funding.. its great to help these small charities.. they are so appreciative...
